0Two days ago our danish CS Team prepared for the trip to Guangzhou in the sunny south of China. In the afternoon they checked in at the airport and took a plane to Guangzhou to play the IEM6 for ANEXIS. I was allowed to interview Nuggi, who answered me a few question about the location, the atmosphere and their plans...
Hi Nuggi, i hope you and your teammates enjoyed the trip to china?
Hi there! Yeah it was okay, we watched a couple of movies. Only thing was a long wait in Dubai, but we knew that before, so it was okay :)
Sounds good, did you at least enjoyed your stop in dubai and saw some great buildings?
Most of the time we had to stay at the airport, but it was pretty impressive anyway.
Great. Did you already see the gaming location or did you just spend your time at the hotel so far?
We arrived yesterday evening. Today we have been at the event, checked out everything and tried the PCs, so we are ready for tomorrow.
So you already saw a bit of Guangzhou... How would you describe the atmosphere around the gaming location? And generally the mentality there?
We have walked around here in the area of the hotel. The hotel is not that far from the event. 15 mins to walk or something. The event location is huge. So many people, spectators and visitors. I think the line for just to get in and visit the event was at least 100 m. The setup is pretty cool, it has one big main stage and a gaming area with 30-40 PCs. The rest of the event is filled with Chinese booth games and other stuff, did'nt get much out of that to be honest :)
Sounds amazing, let us talk about the serious part of your trip, the competition. Are you lucky with your groupstage opponents? Everyone is expecting , that it will be a duel between you and fnatic for place 1. Do you think it will like that?
Hard to say. I don't think that there are any easy oppenents here. Fnatic is maybe the best team on paper of the event, so it will be hard to get the first place, but we should have a good chance to reach the 2nd place of the group. We don't know much about eFuture and Immunity, but I believe that both teams have a lot of quality and skill. Our main goal is just to reach the playoff and if we find our game, I'm sure it will be possible.
Ok, in the playoff you could meet mousesports or winfakt, what did you changed after your last loss versus mouse?
We didn't put any focus of the teams for the playoff, because if we dont concentrate 100% on the groupstage we will not go through. I think we played really bad last time vs mouz, but we watched the demos and talked about it, so hopefully we will make fewer mistakes if we will meet them in the playoffs. If we go through the groupstage we will have a day without games, so we will use that time to prepare for the playoff opponents.
Allright, in Asia, gaming is definetly more popular than in Europe. Do you think that there will be much more viewers as on europe lans? Are you enjoying it, playing in front of thousands of people or are you scared that they will just push the chinese attending teams?
I think you are right, its really cool that the chinese people are enjoying the games so much and that there are so many watching the LAN matches. For me it doesn't feel scary. It gives me a lot more motivation and boost. It takes the match to the next level and I'm really enjoying it.
The next question is especially expected by your fans and followers, which place do you think, are you able to reach?
We expect to reach the semis and then you never know what happens :) A top3 rank will be a very good and satisfing result.
Ok, first of all, thanks for this interesting interview and have a great time in China with as much success as possible. The last words are yours...
We would like to thank ANEXIS and the guys behind for giving us the chance to represent them here. And a special thanks to the sponsors, ZOWIE, Ficken, Linemax and Gamersuniform, who made the trip possible.
